Cummins Fuel System Business Department is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cummins, which has more than 80 years of development and production experience. So far, it has set up five global production bases in Indiana, Mexico Juarez, Wuhan, China, Sweden's Sedtrier and India's Paltan respectively. Cummins fuel system can design, develop and manufacture electronic control pump nozzle fuel system, electronic control common rail fuel system and electronic control module for diesel engines with displacement ranging from 6 to 78 liters, so that the engine has higher reliability, durability, power and fuel economy while meeting environmental emissions.
development history
Cummins fuel system is mainly used for Cummins engine business department, and the main external supporting customers include Scania, Sweden and Komatsu, Japan.
1920s - 1930s: Cummins fuel pump was put into production
The CELECT fuel system is the first electronically controlled unit fuel injection system of Cummins, which was introduced in 1990 and is now mainly used in the 11L M series and 14L N series engine platforms of Cummins. The CELECT system is cam driven to provide higher injection pressure.
The High Pressure Injection (HPI) system is an electronically controlled unit fuel injection system used in heavy diesel engines (9-15L). At present, it is mainly used in Cummins 15L and Scania 12L diesel engines.
The high horsepower high-pressure injection (HHP HPI) system is similar to the heavy high-pressure injection system (HPI), and it is also an electronic unit fuel injection system. It is applicable to diesel engines with displacement ranging from 6 cylinders/19 liters to 18 cylinders/78 liters.
Cummins common rail fuel pump (CCR) is mainly used in small and medium-sized diesel engines (below 9L) to replace the previous pump nozzle fuel system (PLN), and can realize high-pressure direct injection on small engines. Compared with other similar products, the CCR system can control the fuel injection more accurately, thereby reducing engine emissions and fuel consumption and improving fuel economy. Currently, the main supporting models are Cummins 8.9-L series and 8.3-L C series diesel engines.
The ultra-high pressure injection (XPI) system is the latest product of Cummins fuel system, which is jointly developed and manufactured by Cummins and Scania Sweden. Compared with other common rail fuel systems, XPI can provide higher injection pressure. At present, it is mainly used for Cummins medium and Scania heavy engines.
Based on the XPI platform technology and in combination with the needs of the local market in China, Cummins fuel system has designed and developed a full set of electronically controlled fuel systems for Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. and Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., which are capable of meeting the emission regulations of the Fourth, Fifth and above countries.
The Wuhan Plant of Cummins Fuel System is the first overseas fuel system production base set up by Cummins outside North America after Indiana and Juarez in Mexico. It is a key measure for Cummins to further strengthen its local production capacity in China.
1940s: Cummins PT (pressure time) injector was developed
1950s - 1980s: PT fuel system was applied to the whole Cummins product line
1990s:
Cummins' first electronically controlled fuel system - CELECT was put into production
High pressure injection system (HPI) developed
Establish a global strategic partnership with Scania Sweden
Cummins CAPS fuel system is put into production
Since 2000:
Cummins Common Rail Fuel System (CCR) was put into production
Cooperate with Sweden Scania Company to develop the ultra-high pressure injection system (XPI)
Product line
Localized production in China
Cummins Fuel System (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. established a factory in 2007 with a total investment of 66 million US dollars, using advanced production and manufacturing technology, R&D facilities and process flow; Introduce a full set of high-quality common rail fuel system wiring, and produce electronically controlled common rail fuel systems for diesel engines (including fuel pumps, injectors, and common rails), CELECT electronically controlled fuel nozzles, fuel pumps, and related components. To provide Cummins partners and the Chinese market with full value chain services including fuel and electronic control system production, assembly, testing and technical support. The annual production capacity of Wuhan Plant is 160000 electric control common rail fuel system, 40000 electric control pump nozzle fuel system and machining of precision XPI injector parts.

At present, the products of Cummins Fuel System (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. in China are mainly Dongfeng Cummins QSC8.3, ISL8.9, ISL9.5 and ISZ13; Xi'an Cummins ISM11 fully electronic controlled diesel engine; Beijing Foton Cummins X11, X12, X13 electronically controlled diesel engines; Guangxi Cummins QSL9.3 electronically controlled diesel engine and Chongqing Cummins M11, QSK19, QSK38, N, K19, K38, K50 and other high horsepower diesel engines will also be exported to Asia, Latin America, Europe and other international markets.
In 2008, the Phase I plant was officially put into operation, and the pump nozzle fuel system (CELECT) began mass production.
In 2010, the expansion of Phase II plant was completed, and the plant capacity doubled.
In 2011, Kunpeng series fuel system products were officially launched, which can achieve the maximum injection pressure of 1800Bar.
In 2012, the electronic control system was localized and began to provide Cummins partners with engine, post-processing control module and engineering technical support.
In 2013, the factory introduced the ultra-high pressure common rail fuel system production line, and the XPI series products can achieve the maximum injection pressure of 2000Bar, which are matched with Cummins medium and heavy engines, and can help improve the starting performance, achieve more precise fuel volume control, and improve fuel efficiency.
In 2015, the development of Kiran common rail system was completed, and the products of this series were exported to India.
In 2017, it began to establish the after-sales market service network system, and developed and released a variety of low-cost maintenance programs. By the end of 2017, it had reached business cooperation relationships with 45 service dealers nationwide, and established maintenance service capabilities to meet the diversified needs of end users.
In 2018, the 10th anniversary of the company was celebrated, and the 200000th injector and 800000 engine control modules went offline.
In 2019, Cummins Electronic and Fuel System Wuhan Technology Center was officially established. The completion of the center will provide a strong guarantee for the whole process of Cummins fuel and control system from R&D to manufacturing, and can better support the development of local business and serve local customers.
